Professional Variable ND Filters

Variable ND filters from B+W Filter and Schneider-Kreuznach

B+W Filter and Schneider-Kreuznach high-quality variable ND filter, designed to give the photographer total control over the light input. This filter has a step setting, which allows a precise adjustment of the thickness to optimally regulate the amount of light that reaches the camera's sensor. By reducing the light, the filter allows for longer shutter speeds or less blinding, which is essential for creating ö desired effects in images, such as blurred motion or deep depth of field control. Its ability to be adjusted in increments makes it a favorite tool among both film and nature photographers, who appreciate its flexibility and effectiveness in varying lighting conditions. #229;land.

Learn more about Variable ND Filters

Reduce the amount of light that passes through your camera lens by using Variable ND filters. This type of filter can be used to prevent overexposure when filming scenes with very bright light and allows the photographer to 228;lja bigger bländarö på the lens is able to obtain a shallow depth of field. In still photography, the gray filter allows the photographer to choose a slower shutter speed to create a dramatic blur.

Colour neutral Variable ND filters

B+W Variable ND filters are completely color neutral, which means that the filter lowers the intensity of all the waves of light. The motif's colors will be naturally washed out. the pictures.

How Variable ND Filters Work

A variable ND (Neutral Density) filter is a tool primarily used by photographers to control the amount of light that passes through the lens to the camera's sensor. This is achieved by using two polarizing layers that can be rotated in parallel to each other to increase or decrease light transmission.

Info Variable ND filters - No cross pattern

På due to different directions of light incidence (the light rays are spread differently in the center of the image than at the edges) an aberration can occur; when the picture is taken. This first becomes visible in the corners and in extreme cases it can appear in a cross pattern. This becomes noticeable with wide-angle lenses 28 mm and smaller. These irregularities also appear in the case of excessive dimming. Since the B+W ND Vario has a stop for the lightest and darkest positioning, this is avoided.

For to get For good image results, the aperture should not be smaller than f = 28 mm.

ND filters are available with different täthet

B+W ND filters are available with different densities with the difference in how many f-stops of light the filter blocks. This can be specified on different ways as follows.

Tips

With long exposure times, DSLR photographers should cover or close the optical shutter to avoid exposure metering errors. At very high densities, small Color shifts in the image are recommended. These can then be eliminated by using white balance or by working in RAW format in the image processing program.

ND Filter with variable täthet

There are ND filters that can be set in steps, how many stops of light the filter should block. This type of variable filter is very popular among cinematographers who for an extra "blender" to work with. The adjustable gray filter also has great advantages in still photography where you get several filter functions from the same filter and you can choose the desired combination of shutter speed and shutter speed with great precision

B+W Vario ND-Filter 77mm XS-Pro Digital MRC Nano
topseller-icon.png
1072522

B+W Vario ND Filter XS-Pro MRC Nano 77 mm. Flexible light control without changing filters: Because of its effect the B+W Vario ND filter can be adapted to a wide range of shooting situations and photographic requirements. Portrait photographers need for example even in bright ambient light, large apertures in order to optically separate the subject from the background. Using extremely long exposure times, architectural photographers can make people passing through the subject “invisible”. In landscape photography flowing water or the sea surface in broad daylight appears fluffy and soft when using long exposure times. Due to the long time exposure the adventurous photographer achieves a more dynamic image composition by motion blur. Working always with a fixed exposure time on a shootthe film technique often uses variable ND filters. For lenses with insufficient stopping down possibilities, especially in bright light, a variable ND filter allows matched exposure values.

Adjustable density

Thanks to its steplessly adjustable density control, the B+W Vario ND filter can be exactly adapted to individual requirements. For this purpose it comes with an index setting, allowing the photographer to set the density between +1 and +5 f-stops. The filter is optimally colour-neutral and guarantees a professional image performance without abberations. The Vario ND filter can be combined with further ND filters of fixed ND values, leading to considerably higher density values.

B+W Vario ND Filter XS-Pro MRC Nano 95 mm.

B+W ND Vario ND Filter

Features

  • Steplessly controlled density (from +1 to +5 f-stops)
  • Two polarizing filters in one holder
  • Optically exact image (no cross image)
  • No colour shift
  • Scale with index setting
  • MRC nano on both sides
  • Available in Ø 46/ 49 / 52 / 55 / 58 / 62 / 67 / 72 / 77 / 82 og 95 mm

Schneider Cine Filter True-Match Vari-ND 82mm
1105441

The True-Match Vari-ND® MKII filter is our most neutral variable ND filter to date and features 1.5 to 11.5 stops of light control. These True-Match Vari-ND® MKII filters each feature low profiles, smooth rotating rings, and clear marks for choosing strengths while shooting. The effect is achieved by stacking highly neutral grey polarizing filters within a filter cell and rotating them to block the desired amount of light.

Despite its double-frame structure, the Schneider Vari-ND® MKII employs a slim 5.9mm profile to prevent vignetting.

The True-Match Vari-ND® MKII, with 10 stops of light blocking power, eliminates the need for purchasing and stacking multiple ND filters.

Key Features

  • 1.5 to 11.5 stops of exposure control
  • Slim profile, lightweight, & smooth rotating design
  • Create soft backgrounds and slow shutter effects
  • Reduce overall brightness and exposure on the fly
